Early Learning Center

Welcome to the
Saint Mary Magdalen
Early Learning Center

It is a pleasure to welcome you to St. Mary Magdalen Pre-School. The center opened in March 1987, and was developed by parishioners to provide high quality care for the children of working parents. Over the years, the center has expanded and been renovated to accomodate the changing needs of the parish. At the same time, every effort has been made to keep the Pre-School small enough to maintain a family atmosphere. St. Mary Magdalen Pre-School is a full service center, which includes a stimulating pre-school, an active school program and an exciting summer camp.

Mission
St. Mary Magdalen Child Center strives to serve the parish community by nurturing the individual. We dedicate ourselves as teachers and caregivers to creating a Christ-centered environment for the development of our parish family.

Philosophy
At the Pre-School we believe that children learn through being, doing, feeling and thinking. The Pre-School provides healthy, physical care in a friendly, challenging learning environment through the leadership of trained, competent and responsible adults. All areas of development are considered vital - physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and spiritual. We work to be inclusive of each child's unique needs and rate of development by offering appropriate opportunities to stimulate growth and development for each child at each age level. The Pre-School's curriculum helps children to become aware of the world's rich diversity. Our program provides materials and experiences to teach children to be respectful and appreciative of differences among cultures, heritages, genders and levels of ability. In addition to the traditional activities available in a child preschool program, St. Mary Magdalen Preschool offers opportunities for interaction between the children and senior citizens. This interaction includes sharing short skits, story-telling, parties and sing-alongs. Both groups benefit from this interaction; thus our "circle of love" is complete.

Recognition
The Early Learning Center was recently recognized by the Early Learning Coalition of Seminole County for providing an accredited, high-quality early childhood education program. In addition, the Early Learning Center received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for their outstanding and invaluable service to the Community.

Teachers
Director, Elisa Steiner, has served the Center since 1987. All teachers and assistants at the Early Learning Center hold degrees from accredited colleges or universities and/or credentials in early childhood development.  As a ministry of St. Mary Magdalen School, we are undergoing our accreditation with the Florida Catholic Conference.

Hours
Our center is open from 7:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday.

Please stop by Monday through Friday between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm for a tour of the Center. For more information, call Elisa Steiner at 407.831.3740 or by e-mail at:  ESteiner@smmschool.org
